What is NABL

National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) is an accreditation body. The NABL was established to provide a framework for the government, business associations, and the industry at large to independently assess the calibre and technical competence of testing and calibration laboratories.

NABL standards are applicable in all kinds of laboratories including institutional research laboratories but in the medical diagnostic industry, these are mostly seen as a quality assurance procedure that includes internal and external reviews at par with worldwide quality standards.

It is the only certification body acknowledged by the Indian government that provides a neutral assessment of technical competence and lab standards. The NABL also has links with the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation.
